ALTR Unveils Snowflake Integration for Data Cloud Security

Share

ALTR has integrated its data security-as-a-service (DSaaS) platform with the Snowflake data cloud platform, according to a prepared statement.

The integration lets Snowflake users leverage ALTR's DSaaS platform to detect and respond to abnormal consumption of data, the companies said. That way, Snowflake users can utilize ALTR's DSaaS capabilities to stop and prevent credentialed data threats.

Where do MSSPs fit into the conversation? ALTR's partner program includes a focus on managed security services providers. MSSPs typically bundle ALTR into a go-to-market package. From there, the MSSPs manage the relationship with their customers, from identification of the opportunity through successful POC (proof of concept), implementation of the solution, and management of Level 1/Level 2 support for that customer for the life of the relationship, ALTR says.

ALTR and Snowflake Integration: More Details

With the integration, Snowflake users can leverage ALTR's data consumption governance capabilities for observing, detecting and responding to threats and anomalies, the companies noted. In addition, Snowflake users can configure ALTR's DSaaS platform to detect and stop data breaches relating to stolen or misused credentials.

Snowflake users also can leverage ALTR's platform to analyze how they use their own data, the companies stated. As such, they can find ways to continually optimize their data security.

The ALTR-Snowflake integration is now generally available. It requires no code, application changes, configuration or local software installation and lets Snowflake users connect via Snowflake itself or Tableau, Looker or other tools.

A Closer Look at ALTR and Snowflake

ALTR provides a platform that includes a suite of data security capabilities to help organizations understand their data consumption, alleviate risks associated with storing and sharing information and finding ways to optimize data, the company indicated. The platform creates tamper-resistant audit records for each request for data, automatically responds to abnormal data requests and uses tokenization-as-a-service to protect data at rest.

Snowflake offers a single, integrated platform that provides secure and easy access to all of an organization's data, the company asserts. The platform lets organizations power a near-unlimited number of concurrent workloads and allow users and data workloads to access a single copy of data without impacting performance.
