Boeing suffered a WannaCry malware attack today, but its sounds like the ransomware virus caused minimal damage at the aerospace giant.
The attack initially raised fears within Boeing that the virus could cripple some vital airplane production equipment, but the company later downplayed the impact and said production was unaffected, according to The Seattle Times. Boeing has not publicly disclosed which systems WannaCry attacked and encrypted.
WannaCry made global headlines in May 2017, when a strain of the virus exploited a Microsoft Server Message Block protocol to infect more than 300,000 computers globally. FedEx, Britain’s National Health Service and the Russian Interior Ministry ranked among the attack victims, according to multiple reports.
