A U.S. college suffered a crippling cyberattack that triggered system outages and forced class cancellations Monday through Wednesday of this week.

Classes at Northcentral Technical College (NTC) in Wisconsin are expected to resume on Thursday. However, the college has not disclosed specific details about the IT outages and associated application recovery efforts.

As of Wednesday evening, a message on the college's homepage read:

"We apologize for the inconvenience but we are continuing to experience IT system outages. NTC’s Information Technology team is working diligently to bring information systems back online. We will continue to post updates to this page as they are available."

Other than student and staff email, it doesn't look like additional applications are currently available via the college's website. The school has assured students and staff that no confidential, personal, or financial information has been compromised, according to WSAU.

In an email, Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator Kelsi Seubert said Monday that security monitoring systems alerted them to a cybersecurity incident impacting computer systems on campus, WZAW reported. The school then initiated its cyber security response plan, the report said. Seubert did not include specific details about the incident.

Northcentral Technical College is a community college in Wausau, Wisconsin. It is a member of the 16 schools in the Wisconsin Technical College System.
