A. Today’s MSSP, MDR, XDR and Cybersecurity Market News

1. Cerberus Cyber Sentinel Pulls Shares: Cerberus Cyber Sentinel Corporation has terminated the public offering of its common stock. The termination results from an assessment by the company’s management that current market conditions are not conducive for a stock offering.

2. Research Group Launches: Vulcan Cyber, developers of the cyber risk management platform for infrastructure, application and cloud vulnerabilities, has launched the Voyager18 research team. The team will focus exclusively on cyber risk mitigation and vulnerability remediation intelligence. Voyager18 will provide vulnerability mitigation intelligence as a service to Vulcan Cyber customers and the cyber industry alike.

3. White House Cyber Boss Steps Down: National Cyber Director Chris Inglis announced this week that he is stepping down from his position. Inglis tweeted: "It's my great honor to have my name associated with the people of who stewarded this organization from its very first days. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I look forward to watching what @ONCD and its partners will achieve in the future." (Source: Fox News)

4. Leadership Moves: Appdome, a cyber defense automation platform provider for the mobile industry, announced that it has expanded its global leadership team to meet increasing demand for its mobile defense and XDR products. Accordingly, Appdome has added new sales, marketing and solutions executives with deep cyber, anti-fraud and workforce automation experience.

5. New Malware Identified: A new Mirai botnet variant, tracked as ‘V3G4’, targets 13 vulnerabilities in Linux-based servers and IoT devices, is being used in DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks. The malware spreads by brute-forcing weak or default telnet/SSH credentials and exploiting hardcoded flaws to perform remote code execution on the targeted devices. Once a device is breached, the malware infects the device and recruits it into its botnet swarm. (Source: Bleeping Computer)

6. Jamaican Government Hit: Jamaica's Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) reported this week that it has been hit a cyberattack. A team of cybersecurity experts from the Cyber Incident Response Team and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency is working aggressively to assess the extent of the attack. The OPM said the government's operations have not been affected by this incident. (Source: The Gleaner)

7. Cyberattack on German Airports: The websites of seven German airports were hit by a suspected cyberattack on February 16, a day after a major IT failure at Lufthansa left thousands of passengers stranded. Dusseldorf, Nuremberg and Dortmund were among the airports affected. Websites for Germany's biggest airports in Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin were operating normally. (Source: Reuters)
