A. Today’s MSSP, MSP, MDR, XDR and Cybersecurity Market News

1. Leadership Move: Stellar Cyber, a specialist in open XDR technology, has named David Wagner as vice president of Global Service Provider Sales. Wagner brings decades of experience to the Stellar Cyber sales management team, enabling the company to further extend its leadership position serving the growing MSSP market globally.

2. Free Authentication Tool Offered: Microsoft now requires that partners use a new authentication process, moving from delegated admin privileges (DAP) to granular delegated admin privileges (GDAP). Partners who have not migrated will lose access to their customers’ tenants, resulting in support delays and breaks in managed services, according to SkyKick, which has launched a free tool that enables channel partners to quickly and easily automate the DAP-to-GDAP migration.

3. Leadership Appointment: The UK Cyber Security Council announced that Niel Harper, a cybersecurity executive and member of the ISACA Board of Directors, has secured a role in its Professional Standards Working Group. This appointment is an important recognition of Harper’s expertise and contributions to the field of cybersecurity.

4. Cyber Competition Winners Named: The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the U.S. Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) has named the winners of the fourth annual President’s Cup Cybersecurity Competition in a private ceremony at the White House on May 15.  The individual winners are Ben Marks, from the National Security Agency, in the defensive track; and U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 1 Andrew Fricke, from the 781st Military Intelligence Battalion, in the offensive track. For the third year in a row, the winning team came from the U.S. Army’s 780th Military Intelligence Brigade.

5. U.K. Sentences Cybercriminal: A U.K. national responsible for his role as the administrator of the now-defunct iSpoof online phone number spoofing service, has been sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison. Tejay Fletcher, 35, of Western Gateway, London, pleaded guilty in April to a number of cyber offenses, including facilitating fraud and possessing and transferring criminal property. iSpoof, which was available as a paid service, allowed fraudsters to mask their phone numbers and masquerade as representatives from banks, tax offices, and other official bodies to defraud victims.
