Proficio, a Top 100 MSSP for 2017 that provides managed detection and response (MDR), log monitoring and other cybersecurity services, and anti-ransomware software firm CyberSight are working together to deliver enhanced endpoint detection and response (EDR) services.

The companies today announced a partnership to combine Proficio's managed cybersecurity services and CyberSight's RansomStopper anti-ransomware software to help organizations detect and prevent ransomware attacks in real-time, according to a prepared statement.

RansomStopper now integrates with Proficio's security operations center-as-a-service (SOCaaS) platform, the company indicated. That way, CyberSight customers can access Proficio's security analysts and global SOC support and safeguard their endpoints and perimeter devices against ransomware attacks.

In addition, Proficio customers can leverage RansomStopper to extend the functionality of traditional antivirus solutions, the company noted. RansomStopper uses proprietary technology and machine learning to detect new and existing ransomware, and by doing so, ensures Proficio customers are protected against malicious encryption, file loss and other cyber threats.

RansomStopper uses machine learning on file pre-execution to prevent infections, according to CyberSight. It also performs behavioral analysis on processes and files in real-time to automatically contain cyberattacks before they can spread across an organization.

Furthermore, RansomStopper deploys honeypots and traps to lure malicious software into revealing itself, CyberSight said. It is compatible with most antivirus and existing security solutions and adds cyber protection, regardless of ransomware delivery method.

Proficio Company Background

Proficio offers fully managed, hybrid, co-managed and custom cybersecurity services. It provides cybersecurity monitoring and alerting, vulnerability management and automated response capabilities via global SOCs in San Diego, Singapore and Barcelona.

To date, Proficio has received more than $20 million in funding from alternative investment firm Kayne Andersen Capital Advisors. The MSSP continues to explore ways to extend its reach in the global managed security services market as well.

Proficio in October unveiled its "First Year Free" promotion, a limited-time offer to provide organizations with one year of free access to its managed security services.

Also, Proficio in May partnered with Necsia IT Consulting, a Spanish cybersecurity and digital transformation services company, to deliver cyber protection, detection and response services to European enterprises.
