SecureIQLab, a cloud validation provider, has launched what its "first-of-its-kind" test to assess the ability of cloud security solutions to fend off cyberattacks, according to a prepared statement.
Introducing the Advanced Cloud Firewall (ACFW)
SecureIQLab stated that its Advanced Cloud Firewall (ACFW) validates the claims of cloud security solutions while identifying potential weaknesses in those solutions. Accordingly, the ACFW test period runs from May 1 to July 18, and interested organizations are invited to participate. All of its advanced cloud firewall vendors are currently on SecurelQLab’s list of companies to participate in the testing.
SecureIQLab’s testing process combines elements of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and the Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain Model to evaluate solutions on security, performance and operational capabilities, the company said.
Explaining the importance of empirical data to evaluate security solutions, David Ellis, SecureIQLab's vice president of Research and Corporate Relations, said:
“Firewalls are still a staple component of an organization's security stack, and their effectiveness can’t be taken for granted or assumed. Without empirical data validating the efficacy of these security solutions, it can be easy to have a false sense of security."
More Testing Planned
In addition to the Advanced Cloud Firewall (ACFW) testing, SecureIQLab will conduct tests for Cloud Web Application Firewall (Cloud WAF) v3.0, Extended Detection and Response (XDR) and Cloud Ransomware Protection.
SecureIQLab evaluates security solutions with a focus on security efficacy, operational efficiency and return on security investment (ROSI) to help enterprises have a more comprehensive view of their security solutions, the company said.
Commenting on the purpose of the testing to help security companies evaluate and improve their solutions, Jayendra Pathak, SecureIQLab's chief scientist, said:
“Security vendors are all touting their advanced firewalls, but even one weakness in the system can cost an organization millions of dollars in damage.”
