Fortinet Network Access Control Tackles IoT Security

Fortinet, the automated cybersecurity solutions provider, has announced the FortiNAC network access control product for Internet of Things (IoT) security.

FortiNAC empowers organizations with IoT device visibility and control, according to the company. By doing so, FortiNAC helps organizations automate threat response and control network access across multi-vendor environments.

How Does FortiNAC Work?

Organizations can use FortiNAC to gain visibility into their network endpoints, end users and trusted and untrusted devices and applications, Fortinet said. Plus, organizations can leverage FortiNAC to establish security controls across their network devices and ensure only authorized users can access appropriate applications, infrastructure and assets.

In addition, FortiNAC can be integrated into the following Fortinet security products:

  • FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall: Automates visibility into an organization's applications.
  • FortiSwitch: Delivers single-pane-of-glass network security management.
  • FortiWLC Wireless Controllers: Optimize traffic across controller-based wireless access points and client devices.
  • FortiSIEM: Provides unified network event correlation and risk management.
  • FortiAP: Offers secure access points for data, video and voice applications.

FortiNAC also provides network orchestration capabilities to help organizations automate responses to cyber threats and perform threat containment in seconds, the company said.

What Does FortiNAC Mean for Partners?

FortiNAC bolsters the Fortinet Security Fabric and helps channel partners use this security solution to protect customer networks, devices and appliances, according to the company. Furthermore, FortiNAC could help the vendor to accelerate its channel market growth.

Fortinet recorded $441.3 million in revenue in the second quarter of 2018, a 21 percent year-over-year increase, the company noted. Meanwhile, service providers represented the company's largest vertical and accounted for 19 percent of the company's 2Q18 billings.

Channel Partner Support

Fortinet enables MSSPs, network service providers and systems integrators (SIs) to offer its security products across networked, application, cloud or mobile environments. It also offers the Fabric-Ready Partner Program that enables technology providers to add Fortinet security products to their portfolios.
