Sophos MDR Security Services Gain Third-Party Security Telemetry Integrations

Sophos, backed by private equity firm Thoma Bravo, has integrated telemetry from third-party endpoint, firewall, cloud, identity, email and other security technologies into the Sophos Adaptive Cybersecurity Ecosystem, according to a prepared statement.

In doing so, Sophos now lets organizations use its Sophos Managed Detection and Response (MDR) solution in conjunction with telemetry from third-party security solutions.

Sophos MDR's Third-Party Solutions

Integrating Sophos MDR with third-party security solutions allows Sophos to "detect and remediate threats across a broad range of environments, including complex, multi-vendor scenarios," Sophos Chief Technology and Product Officer Joe Levy said. It ensures that organizations can leverage Sophos MDR with security telemetry from several cybersecurity companies, including:

  • CrowdStrike
  • Microsoft
  • Palo Alto Networks
  • Fortinet
  • Check Point Software Technologies
  • Rapid7
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Okta
  • Darktrace
  • Google

Third-party security telemetry can be consolidated, correlated and prioritized with insights from the Sophos Adaptive Cybersecurity Ecosystem and the Sophos X-Ops threat intelligence unit, the company said. It also is backed by technology from SOC.OS, which Sophos acquired in April 2022.

In addition, the Sophos MDR operations team can use third-party vendor telemetry to conduct threat hunts and identify attacker behaviors, the company stated. That way, the Sophos MDR operations team can use this telemetry to understand cyberattacks, how and why they occurred and respond to them accordingly.

Sophos Eyes Cybersecurity Partnerships

Expanding Sophos MDR's compatibility with third-party security solutions allows the company to deliver a "technology-agnostic managed service that truly meets customers where they are and the realities they are forced to embrace," said Frank Dickson, group vice president for the security and trust research practice at IDC.

It highlights Sophos' commitment to building an open environment in which organizations can use the company's solutions in combination with other security tools to guard against cyber threats.

MSSPs and MSPs can partner with Sophos and integrate Sophos MDR into their offerings. This allows MSSPs and MSPs to expand their offerings and ensure they meet the needs of global organizations.
