Axellio, a U.S. Army cyber defense contractor, has been awarded a $39.5 million deal to continue expanding the Army’s Garrison Defense Cyberspace Operations Platform (GDP).
The contract is the fourth such award for Axellio, with prior ones approved in July 2022 and November 2021 for the Army GDP version 3 and 4 programs. The deal involves the Colorado Springs, Colorado-based Axellio, in tandem with World Wide Technology and Red Hat, are delivering a mobile solution to deploy anywhere in the world.
Cyber Defense Delivered
The collaborators designed and developed a modular, scalable and hyperconverged cyber defense framework based on Axellio’s commercial PacketXpress Network Intelligence Platform, the companies said. The GDP and newer version leverage Axellio's PacketXpress product, which is designed for defense, intelligence community,and global security operations.
PacketXpress is an innovative, scalable, high-intake platform for security and network traffic capture, storage, and distribution, operating within small footprints.
PacketXpress Examined
The solution is designed to:
- Enhance the performance, efficiency, accuracy and mobility of cybersecurity missions across enterprise or tactical environments
- Operate as a mobile, disconnected solution or scaling to racks of data center solutions fully connected.
- Develop teams across Axellio, WWT and Red Hat created a high-speed data collection, storage and processing solution that allows cyber tools to more easily drop in and out of the architecture as the mission changes and technology advances
Commenting on the merits of PacketXpress:

The PacketXpress framework has been successfully operationalized to monitor, detect, and analyze anomalous behavior and intrusions in the Army's Garrison networks via a permanent deployment. Axellio said the new solution has already been established for monitoring, detecting and analyzing any unusual behaviors or intrusions across the US Army’s Garrison network.
As Axellio chief executive Scott Aken explained:

Red River Secures Army Contract
Separately, Red River, a technology transformation company serving government and enterprise customers, said that it is now an authorized provider on the U.S. Army’s Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 3 Services (ITES-3S) contract.
The award, granted by the Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) and the Army Contracting Command, is a nine-year, $12.1 billion contract.
Red River has a 25-year background as a technology and services provider to the U.S. government and Department of Defense (DoD).
