Optimism Reigns at InfoSec World 2024

Outlook in security has been primarily positive at this year's InfoSec World conference, with imminent advancements in artificial intelligence noted as one of the highlights, according to SC Media.

Artificial general intelligence would usher in the "most profound industrial revolution," with improved ChatGPT and Copilot implementations expected in 2027 to be followed by the emergence of autonomous agents until 2035 and the eventual rise of natural language operation systems that will serve as self-aware assistants, said former OpenAI Go-To-Market Head Zach Kass.

While AGI could increase job displacement and a reduction in social skills, the technology was noted by Kass to improve job satisfaction. On the other hand, former Clorox Chief Information Security Officer Amy Bogac detailed her team's response to the breach that impacted the major cleaning products vendor last year and emphasized the importance of breach management experience.

"I'm not saying you need to go out and engineer a breach but make incident response playbooks and conduct tabletop exercises. Your next employer will appreciate it," said Fitzgerald, who is now CISO at Elevate Textiles, in an interview with CyberRisk Collaborative Vice President of Cybersecurity Strategy Todd Fitzgerald.
