15. Huawei Security Concerns: Huawei's "shoddy" engineering practices mean its mobile network equipment could be banned from sensitive parts of the UK, according to a cybersecurity expert from the  Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), BBC reports. GCHQ is an intelligence and security organization that supports the UK's government and armed forces.

14. SIEM Market Forecast: The Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) market will grow to $3.23 billion by 2023, up from $1.98 billion today, according to Frost & Sullivan. Among the growth drivers: The growing popularity of cloud-hosted SIEM for MSPs, and the rise of such new functionalities as:

  • user & entity behavior analytics (UEBA);
  • security operation and automation response (SOAR); and
  • forensic analysis.

13. Microsoft GDPR Compliance: The European Union is investigating whether Microsoft's software contracts comply with GDPR (general data protection regulation), Reuters reports.

12. Endpoint Security: The Intezer Analyze platform now features an the Endpoint Analysis solution -- a zero-installation scanner that analyzes every single piece of code running in a computer's memory, including executable files and injected malicious code modules.

11. Cyber Insurance Concerns: The Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA) is concerned about proposed cyber insurance guidelines being developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), calling them “premature” and “inappropriate," according to Insurance Journal.

10. Cyber Insurance Plans: Delta Insurance has launched a cyber-protection and insurance product for businesses and their employees and customers across the Asia-Pacific region, in partnership with global cybersecurity firm DynaRisk, according to this report.

9. Cloud Server Honeypots: The typical cloud server honeypot is attacked within 52 seconds of launch, according to a new Sophos research report. In fact, cloud servers suffered 13 attempted attacks per minute on average, the research reveals.

8. Distribution - Network Security: Tech Data will promote BlueCat's Enterprise DNS platform to network and security teams in the U.S. and Canada. The platform centralizes, processes, and analyzes DNS data to provide organizations with visibility and control capabilities for network security, the companies say.

7. M&A - Physical & Network Security: FE Moran Security Solutions has acquired MidCo of Burr Ridge, Illinois, for undisclosed terms. Founded in 1960, MidCo is a commercial security and network systems integrator. The company’s in-house capabilities include all forms of electronic security, network infrastructure, hosted environments and telecommunications services, FE Moran asserts.

6. Talent - Threat Detection & Response: Fidelis Cybersecurity has hired Craig Harber as chief technology officer. Harber previously held key posts in the United States Department of Defense (DoD), among other areas.

5. Talent - Endpoint Protection: Ziften has hired Mickey DiPietro as VP of sales. He previously held key posts at Cyren, Zscaler, Authenic8, Google Apps and Postini.

4. Talent - Threat Intelligence: Bitdefender has launched threat intelligence services for MSSPs, consultancies and large enterprises that are seeking better visibility into the threat landscape. Also, the company has hired Rackspace managed security veterans Daniel Clayton and Jarret Raim. The duo is building a security operations center in the United States that will rely heavily upon the new Advanced Threat Intelligence services, Bitdefender says.

3. Expansion - Top 100 MSSP: Proficio, a Top 100 MSSP that also offers managed detection and response (MDR) services, has opened a new London office and appointed Andrew Laver as regional director, United Kingdom. Proficio has had EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) operations since 2016.

2. MSP Dashboard: WatchGuard Technologies has launched WatchGuard Cloud Platform, a multi-tenant cybersecurity platform for MSPs. Key adopters include EMazzanti Technologies. Most major cybersecurity software and technology providers are introducing multi-tenant capabilities to embrace MSPs.
