Managed services provider (MSP) Milestone Technologies has integrated CyberHat cyber-readiness assessments, forensic investigation and incident response capabilities and advanced penetration simulations into its managed services portfolio.
Milestone will leverage the CyberHat CYREBRO security operations center-as-a-service (SOCaaS) platform to help its customers simultaneously mitigate security risks and become more efficient than ever before, according to a prepared statement.
CYREBRO offers threat detection, analysis and remediation capabilities. Also, two versions of CYREBRO are available: CYREBRO Core and CYREBRO One.
CYREBRO Core uses an organization's security information and event management (SIEM) solution to provide continuous threat monitoring. It helps an organization optimize its SIEM solution, and in doing so, reduce false-positive alerts and streamline threat identification and mitigation.
Comparatively, CYREBRO One is a turnkey offering for organizations that do not currently use an SIEM solution. It provides SIEM licensing and setup, SOC services and threat detection and response capabilities.
Milestone Technologies, meanwhile, has serious heft. The company employs 2,000-plus industry professionals, serves 200-plus clients, and operates in 18 countries, the firm says.
Arctic Wolf Networks, Proficio Offer SOCaaS
Meanwhile, multiple companies now promote SOCaaS to channel partners and MSPs.
For instance, Arctic Wolf Networks provides CyberSOC, a SOCaaS offering for MSPs and MSSPs. CyberSOC combines human expertise and machine learning to help organizations detect, identify and respond to cyberattacks. True believers include Ingram Micro, which has agreed to distribute Arctic Wolf Networks.
Furthermore, Proficio, a Top 100 MSSP, provides an SOCaaS offering that includes threat detection, protection and response capabilities. Proficio's SOCaaS also leverages CrowdStrike cloud-based endpoint protection software, which enables its SOC analysts to analyze and investigate security alerts and obtain threat intelligence.
Exabeam Report: Most IT Pros Say Additional SOC Staff Required
Understaffed SOCs are problems for some IT professionals, according to the "2018 State of the SOC Report" from SIEM solutions provider Exabeam. In fact, the Exabeam report showed 45 percent of IT professionals said they believe their SOC is understaffed, and 63 percent said they could use between two and 10 additional SOC employees.
Meanwhile, SOCaaS enables MSPs and MSSPs to integrate SOC capabilities into their portfolios at a fraction of the cost of owning and operating an SOC. As MSPs and MSSPs search for ways to enhance their security portfolios, the demand for SOCaaS could increase accordingly.
