Bitdefender has purchased Horangi Cyber Security and will incorporate the company's cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM) and cloud security posture management (CSPM) capabilities into its GravityZone unified risk and security analytics platform, according to a prepared statement.

This is technology M&A deal number 185 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.

Bitdefender, founded in 2001, is based in Bucuresti, Romania. The company has 2,067 employees listed on LinkedIn. Bitdefender's areas of expertise include threat prevention, detection and response.

Horangi, founded in 2016, is based in Singapore. The company has 121 employees listed on LinkedIn. Horangi's areas of expertise include cloud security, identity and access management (IAM) and penetration testing.

Bitdefender Bolsters GravityZone Platform

Horangi helps Bitdefender "address the growing demand for advanced, streamlined management of cybersecurity, compliance and governance of multi-cloud environments," the companies said.

GravityZone users can utilize Horangi's cybersecurity, compliance and governance capabilities in conjunction with Bitdefender's leading threat prevention, protection, detection and response capabilities, the companies indicated.

In addition, Bitdefender has integrated Horangi's security services into its managed detection and response (MDR) offerings.

Company Leaders Laud Acquisition

Commenting on the Horangi acquisition and how it complements his company's product strategy, Bitdefender CEO Florin Talpes said:

"We are pleased to announce our intent to acquire Horangi Cyber Security, a strategic move that will amplify our risk analytics, threat detection and response capabilities in the cloud and complement our GravityZone platform to help business customers combat evolving cybersecurity threats as the attack surface grows. The addition of Horangi is a major milestone in our product strategy execution and aligns with our mission to be the most trusted cybersecurity platform worldwide."

Explaining why he believes the Bitdefender acquisition represents a "strategic partnership" that will benefit both companies and their respective customers, Horangi CEO Paul Hadjy said:

“This acquisition represents a strategic partnership built on shared values, a commitment to innovation and a vision for the future... By leveraging Bitdefender's broad cybersecurity portfolio, our customers can expect an even greater level of service, accelerated innovation pace, and exceptional cybersecurity outcomes in the cloud and beyond."

Bitdefender's Mobile Device Protection to MSPs and Their Customers

The Horangi acquisition comes after Bitdefender in May 2023 released GravityZone Security for Mobile to protect MSPs and their customers against mobile device attacks.

GravityZone Security for Mobile uses anti-malware and machine learning technologies and threat intelligence to detect malicious applications and other mobile threats, Bitdefender noted. It also provides mobile device monitoring and works in combination with the GravityZone console.

Bitdefender offers threat prevention, detection and response solutions. The company has a network of over 20,000 partners globally.
