MetTel, which makes communications and digital transformation solutions for enterprise customers, said it will serve as the primary managed security services provider (MSSP) to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under a new federal contract.
The company, which will also serve as the agency’s internet access provider, will supply Mission Essential Functions to DHS, helping to safeguard its internal networks and systems against cybersecurity threats. MetTel's assignment officially comes under the General Service Administration's (GSA) Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contract to fulfill the DHS Internet Protocol Service, Primary Network EIS task order.
As part of the DHS contract, MetTel will provide:
- Internet Protocol Service at multiple locations at bandwidth capacity of up to 10 gigabits per second.
- A managed security service solution.
- Access to the MetTel EIS Federal Portal, delivering to DHS real-time visibility to the latest technology to monitor, access reporting and performance details on the Internet Protocol Services through the MetTel network.
The agreement spans all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"The U.S. Department of Homeland Security had stringent criteria for this internet requirement contractually managed by the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization," said Robert Dapkiewicz, MetTel Federal general manager and senior vice president. "MetTel was the lowest cost to the government with a fully compliant technical proposal, which is especially important because the government has an ever-growing need to secure high performing communications technology at the best price,” he said.
Earlier this year, MetTel landed a government contract with the Social Security Administration, as part of an expansion of its federal and local government engagements. Over the last 18 months, the company has also secured deals with the City of Phoenix, The U.S. Marine Corps, The Pentagon and the Federal Emergency Management Association.
