4. DDoS Attack Arrests: Israeli authorities have charged two 19-year-old teenagers for running vDos, a DDoS-for-hire service that was the largest such platform of its time, BleepingComputer reports. The service operated from 2012 up to September 2016, and for most of its lifespan, only a few people knew about its existence. The service offered a broad range of DDoS-for-hire services, from monthly "stresser service" subscriptions to rentable botnet infrastructure, the report said.
3. Hidden Backdoor: Kaspersky Lab researchers have discovered a backdoor planted in NetSarang's server management software platform, which is used by hundreds of large businesses worldwide. When activated, the backdoor allows attackers to download further malicious modules or steal data, the security company said. NetSarang issued this patch to close the hole.
