11. Cisco Security Advisory: Cisco has released a security advisory to address a vulnerability affecting Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Software, The U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) reports. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial-of-service condition, the report says. Cisco's details are here.

10. No SOC for AWS?: Does Amazon Web Services (AWS) actually operate without a Security Operations Center (SOC)? That's what this CSO report claims...

9. Alleged Intellectual Property Theft: The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday unveiled an indictment against two companies based in China and Taiwan and three individuals, alleging they conspired to steal trade secrets from U.S. semiconductor company Micron Technology relating to its research and development of memory storage devices, Reuters reports.

8. Prison for Data Privacy Lies?: A U.S. senator released a draft bill Thursday that would require tech executives to show that they're in compliance with privacy and data security regulations, Law360 says. The bill proposes sending those executives to prison if they lie about data privacy issues.

7. Comodo CA Rebrands Company: Comodo CA, a commercial Certificate Authority and a  provider of web security solutions, has rebranded as Sectigo.

6. Risk Visibility, Mitigation: BitSight has upgraded its platform with new vendor risk and asset risk matrix capabilities. The updates help "customers address the most important risks within their third party ecosystem," BitSight asserts.

5. Cyber Attack Board Game: A cyber attack simulation board game created by Chubb has won a global gaming industry accolade. "Hacksagon!" developed by Chubb's European cyber team won the award for Excellence in No-Tech Gamification Design at the recent 2018 GamiCon awards in Chicago, the company says. 4. Network Audits: The new Netwrix Auditor 9.7 release claims to help organizations focus on the four stages of the security cycle: Predict, Prevent, Detect and Respond.  

3. Talent - AppRiver: ValueInsured veteran Cleve Bellar has joined AppRiver as chief marketing officer. Earlier, he held key posts at Sage, LexisNexis and Computer Associates. AppRiver develops and promotes cloud-based cybersecurity and productivity services, working closely with MSPs and channel partners in the process. The company is one of Microsoft's closest and largest Office 365 cloud solutions providers. AppRiver, acquired by Marlin Equity Partners in 2017, has also been in acquisition mode -- most recently acquiring Total Defense.

2. Symantec Earnings: Symantec's revenue was $1.175 billion in Q2 fiscal 2019, down from $1.240 billion in Q2 fiscal 2018, the company said yesterday. The company's net loss shrank to $8 million, down from a net loss of $12 million during the corresponding quarter last year. Although the company is shrinking, the revenue results were above Symantec's guidance for the quarter.

1. Fortinet Earnings: Fortinet's revenues were $453.9 million in Q3 2018, up 21 percent vs. Q3 2017, the cybersecurity company says. GAAP net income was $58.7 million, up sharply from $26.7 million in Q3 2017. The results beat Wall Street's expectations, SeekingAlpha reports.
