6. Critical Infrastructure Attacks: McAfee researchers have uncovered a global hacker campaign that targeted nuclear, defense, energy, and financial companies. The ominous campaign was called Operation Sharpshooter.
5. MDR for Microsoft Office 365: ControlScan, a Top 100 MSSP, has extended its Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services to Microsoft Office 365. We'll share more details later today.
4. Managed Cloud Security Services: CyberInt, a Top 100 MSSP, has launched a managed cloud security services offering. We'll share more details soon.
3. Talent - MSSP Leader: DXC Technology has hired former BT Security CEO Mark Hughes to run its global security function, The Register reports.
2. M&A - Vulnerability Assessments: Arctic Wolf Networks has acquired RootSecure, a provider of cybersecurity risk and vulnerability assessment tools. Multiple vulnerability and risk assessment companies have been acquired in recent months. Example deals include:
- ConnectWise recently acquired Sienna Group, an MSSP that educates MSPs and IT consulting firms about the NIST Cybersecurity Framework for risk management.
- Kaseya recently acquired RapidFire Tools, a popular MSP software provider focused on internal threat detection, network and security assessments, and compliance products.
1. Atlanta Ransomware Attack Triggers Changes: Atlanta CIO Gary Brantley says the city has made some key IT changes after the March 2018 ransomware attack, according to GovTech.
