11. Laptop Hole: The Finnish data security firm F-Secure reported on Friday about a new security issue which could affect millions of laptops used in the corporate world, YLE reports. The company said that the issue affects most, if not all laptops which support Intel Management Engine or Intel AMT tech and is not related to the recently-reported vulnerabilities known as Spectre and Meltdown, the report says.
10. Russia Hackers Olympics: New evidence has emerged that hackers linked to the Russian government are targeting Olympic organizations just weeks before the start of the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea, multiple reports suggest.
9. Data Privacy: Microsoft has urged the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold a ruling preventing the federal government from unilaterally requesting user data that the company stores overseas, arguing that Congress never meant to expand the government’s powers beyond U.S. borders without the cooperation of foreign countries, Law360 reports.
8. Bitcoin Volatility: Bitcoin tumbled 18 percent on Tuesday to a four-week trough close to $11,000, after reports that a ban on trading of cryptocurrencies in South Korea was still an option drove fears grew of a wider regulatory crackdown, Reuters reports.
7. Connected Car: BlackBerry on Monday launched a new cybersecurity software, which identifies vulnerabilities in programs used in self-driving cars, Reuters note.
6. M&A: FireEye has acquired X15 Software to monitor, search and analyze machine-generated security data.
5. Funding: Nozomi Networks, a San Francisco-based provider of real-time cybersecurity and operational visibility for industrial control systems, has raised $15 million in Series B funding.
4. Funding: CryptoMove, a Walnut Creek, California-based cybersecurity startup, has raised $6 millon in Series A funding.
3. Product Bundle: Accelerated's LTE routers will be part of a SonicWall security bundle. The bundle is being exhibited this week at Retail’s Big Show in New York.
2. Global Expansion: NTT Security, a Top 100 MSSP for 2017, the specialized security company of NTT Group, has expanded its managed security and professional services into Thailand.
1. Momentum: Proficio, a Top 100 MSSP for 2017 with a focus on managed detection and response (MDR), closed out a record-breaking 2017 and projects to double revenue and market share in 2018. We'll share more details in the next day or so.
