1. Vulnerability Assessment Tool: Tenable has announced Nessus Essentials, an enhanced free version of its vulnerability assessment solution (formerly Nessus Home). Nessus Essentials is designed for students, professors and people who are starting their cybersecurity careers, helping the next generation to quickly and easily master vulnerability assessment and hone their skills, Tenable asserts.

2. Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM): Atos has launched a cloud-based IAM solution based on Evidian.

3. AI - Network Security: Extreme Networks has unveiled ExtremeAI Security, a "new class of network security that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify and remediate advanced threats against IoT devices," the company says. Extreme plans to release the application in October 2019.

4. Talent - M&A Expert: GoSecure Powered by CounterTack has hired Trustwave veteran James Kunkel as COO. GoSecure provides a Predictive Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platform and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services. Kunkel led Trustwave's M&A strategy -- which may signal a major M&A priority at GoSecure...

5. Legislation - Hacking Tools: U.S. lawmakers are pushing legislation that would force the State Department to report what it is doing to control the spread of U.S. hacking tools around the world, Reuters reports.

6. Baltimore Ransomware Attack - Update: Most of the Baltimore City’s government systems have been offline following a Robbinhood ransomware attack on May 7. The extended outage may suggest that Baltimore did not properly back up its networks to protect (and then restore) data in the event of such an attack.

7. Google Security Key Vulnerability: Google has issued a security advisory for its Bluetooth Titan Security Keys that is serious enough for it to replace them for free, The Verge reports.

8. Research - Biggest Data Breaches: Bitglass has released a  Kings of the Monster Breaches research report. The report closely examines the Marriott breach of 2018, the Equifax breach of 2017 and the Yahoo! breach of 2016 -- and uncovers key learnings from each breach.

B. Cybersecurity & MSSP Partner Programs

1. API Firewalls: 42Crunch, which developed an API Firewall, has launched a reseller and implementation partner program. Early partners include Skalena (Brazil) and atSistemas (Spain).

2.  SOAR: SIRP and Z Services are partnering to promote a SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation and Response) solution across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

3. Palo Alto Networks: Lightstream has been recognized by Palo Alto Networks as a RedLock MSSP Partner. The partnership calls for Lightstream to extend its security portfolio with RedLock, a cloud security and compliance posture management offering for public and multi-cloud environments, the companies say.
