Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) News: 22 May 2018

Each morning MSSP Alert broadcasts a quick lineup of news, analysis and chatter from across the global managed security services provider, SOC (security operations center) and IT outsourcing ecosystem.

Here’s the lineup for Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

9. Partner Program: Cavirin Systems, a cyber risk specialist, has launched the Cavirin Connect Partner Program for resellers, integrators and MSSPs. Launch partners include Astadia in the UK, Bodega Technologies, InterVision, Lite Distribution in Australia, Logicworks, Scalar in Canada, Titans Security in Israel, Veristor and others, Cavirin says.

8. Partner Program: Industrial cybersecurity startup Claroty thas launched its Vision global channel partner program. The four-tier program – Elite, Premier, Authorized, and Referral – features increased margin, deal registration, an online demo environment, and co-marketing activities, the company says.  

7. Threat Analytics: Eastwind Networks, which develops a cybersecurity solutions and breach analytics cloud platform, has unveiled Eastwind CloudVu. The new platform provides unified visibility, threat analysis and behavioral analytics to identify malicious activity, insider threats and data leakage across multiple public and private cloud infrastructures, the company says.

6. Partnership: OPAQ Networks and Duo Security to integrate Duo's trusted access suite with OPAQ's security-as-a-service platform. OPAQ's MSSPs can now offer Duo’s Trusted Access platform to protect customers’ systems and data from unauthorized access, the companies say.

Education: SolarWinds MSP has launched a Security Resource Center, designed to "make it quick and easy for MSPs to get the information they need about current security issues and trends, as well as recommended best practices  to help ensure their business and customers are protected," the company says. VP Timothy Brown will contribute a monthly report specifically designed for MSPs.   

4. M&A: Syncsort is acquiring IBM i encryption, tokenization, authentication, FTP and SIEM integration products from Townsend Security, a Washington-state based provider of data privacy software. Additionally, Syncsort has agreed to resell Townsend Security’s Alliance Key Manager product.

3. MSSP Ownership: Singtel Enterprise Security has acquired the remaining 2 percent stake in Trustwave for US$12 million in cash -- apparently giving the Top 100 MSSP a $600 million valuation.

2. Funding: SonicWall has recapped its business and fully separated from Quest Software. The security company has exceeded its financial objectives for six strategy quarters, though SonicWall didn't reveal the actual financial figures. Dell sold both SonicWall and Quest Software to private equity firms in 2016.
