6. Huawei & Cybersecurity: After a recent rumor, Huawei has confirmed that it would spend $2 billion over the next five years to focus on cybersecurity. The spending involves people, lab upgrades and improved processes to safeguard both the company and the products it designs. Huawei, based in China, is facing worldwide pushback from multiple countries -- many of which allege the company could spy for the Chinese government. The company has denied the claims.
5. Big SOC Contract: Leidos has won a potential five-year, $100 million contract to manage cyber and enterprise security operations for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. We'll share more details soon.
4. Second SOC Opens: Sirius Computer Solutions, Inc. a national IT solutions integrator, has opened a Security Operations Center (SOC) in Omaha, Nebraska. The company also has a SOC in Mississauga, Toronto, Canada.
3. Talent - Endpoint Protection: Malwarebytes has hired MobileIron and Wind River veteran Barry Mainz as chief revenue officer.
2. Partnership - Network & Endpoint Protection: Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection and Untangle’s cloud security platform, Command Center, are set to be integrated. Administrators will gain a single pane of glass to manage security orchestration across the network and connected devices, the companies say.
1. SMB Security: The Cyber Readiness Institute has launched a Cyber Readiness Program for SMBs. The Cyber Readiness Institute was launched in July 2017 by senior industry executives who served on the Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity, an independent, bipartisan Commission.
