Each morning MSSP Alert broadcasts a quick lineup of news, analysis and chatter from across the global managed security services provider, SOC (security operations center) and IT outsourcing ecosystem.
Here’s the lineup for Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
6. Yahoo Fined: Altaba (the former Yahoo) has agreed to pay a $35 million fine for failing to properly report a massive 2014 data breach, according to the SEC.
5. DDoS Mitigation: Consolidated Communications, the broadband and business communications provider, has launched a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Mitigation service. The service monitors, detects and mitigates complex DDoS attacks, the company claims.
4. Incident Response Automation: Everbridge has integrated its IT Alerting and incident response platform with Cherwell Software's IT service management platform.
3. Pending IPO - Carbon Black: The endpoint security company may achieve a $1 billion or more valuation once it goes public, according to an SEC filing. Also of note: Carbon Black mentioned its heavy MSSP dependence dozens of times in the filing. We'll share more details soon.
2. Talent: Parisa Tabriz, Google’s director of engineering, is set to keynote Black Bat USA 2018 in August. Tabriz is responsible for Chrome security and Project Zero, a security research team tasked with reducing harm associated with zero-day vulnerabilities. We're set to blog live from the conference.
1. Cyber Raid: Webstresser.org, a website blamed for launching more than four million cyber-attacks around the world, including attempts to crash banks in the UK, has been taken down in a major international investigation, according to BBC. The operation, which involved the UK's National Crime Agency, blocked Webstresser.org -- which allows criminals to buy attacks on businesses. We'll share more thoughts soon.
