Each morning MSSP Alert broadcasts a quick lineup of news, analysis and chatter from across the global MSSP (managed security services provider) ecosystem.

Here’s the lineup for Wednesday, April 26, 2017:

10a. Midmarket Security: Nearly 40 percent of midmarket companies now depend on part-time employees, contractors, and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) to manage their security workloads, according to a 451 Research survey.

10b. Security Dashboard: Comodo has delivered a new release of its Comodo Dome Shield DNS-based web security service for the network boundary. Dome Shield now integrates more tightly with Comodo ONE, a single pane of glass that allows MSPs to manage Comodo's product portfolio.

9. Funding - Secure Containers: Twistlock, a provider of cloud container security solutions, has raised $17 million in Series B funding.

8. Cloud Backup: Rubrik, which positions itself as a cloud data management company, now protects data running in Amazon Web Services and Azure. The milestone comes as Rubrik allegedly prepares to raise more funding at a $1 billion-plus valuation.

7. Government Cybersecurity Leaders: If you're an MSSP serving U.S. government agencies at the state level, then dig into the Statescoop list -- which includes key cybersecurity leaders at state agencies.

6. Ransomware Targets: Roughly 77 percent of ransomware cases are detected in four industries: business & professional services, government, healthcare and retail, according to an NTT Security research study.

5. Breach Warning: Blowout Cards has issued a security alert to customers, warning that their payment card details may have been compromised after an attacker hacked its website and customers began reporting related card fraud, according to Bank Info Security.

4. Secure Data Centers: OFFSITE, a cloud computing and data center hosting company, is integrating Palo Alto Next Generation Security Platform and firewalls into its network and private cloud infrastructure.

3. MSSP Partnership: Leidos (LDOS) has agreed to act as an expert service provider for the Fortinet Security Fabric portfolio of solutions. The agreement expands Leidos' depth and breadth of existing managed security services offerings, the companies say.

2.  Hacker Extradition?: Lauri Love, an alleged computer hacker, has been allowed to challenge his extradition from Britain to the US, according to The Independent. U.S. authorities want Love,  who has Asperger syndrome, to face trial on charges of cyber hacking. But his lawyers say that could mean a sentence of up to 99 years in prison if he is found guilty, and that he would not be able to cope with such punishment, the report said.

1. Countdown to Launch: Yup. We wrote this blog on Wednesday, April 26 — quite a bit before MSSP Alert’s anticipated launch day in mid-2017.
