Proficio, a Top 100 MSSP for 2017 that provides managed detection and response (MDR), log monitoring and other cybersecurity services, has completed a second round of funding led by alternative investment firm Kayne Andersen Capital Advisors. The latest funding round brings Kayne's total investment in Proficio to more than $20 million; Kayne previously invested $12 million to help the company bolster its cybersecurity services and expand globally.
With the latest funding, Proficio will launch new solutions and bolster its security operations center-as-a-service (SOCaaS) and security information and event management-as-a-service (SIEMaaS) offerings, according to a prepared statement.
The company also plans to use the funding to explore expansion opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe, co-founder Tim McElwee stated.

Proficio Upgrades Managed Services for Splunk
The company in July expanded its managed services for Splunk to help organizations reduce alert fatigue and optimize their SIEM investments, according to a prepared statement.
The expanded managed services for Splunk offer a variety of capabilities, including:
- Advanced analytics.
- Cloud-based SOC.
- Intelligent alerts.
- Investigation, monitoring and response.
- Threat intelligence.
Proficio provides two platforms for Splunk deployments: a managed service option for administrative and maintenance tasks and log collection and a security event monitoring and alerting service. Both platforms enable organizations to use Splunk to keep track of cyber threats, the MSSP said, and obtain cybersecurity insights.
Founded in 2010, Proficio offers managed security services to help protect organizations against advanced cyber threats. The lineup includes co-managed, fully managed and custom cybersecurity solutions and supports organizations across a wide range of industries, including financial services, energy and healthcare.
