Secureworks Strikes Partnership with Akamai to Bolster Security Operations

Secureworks, a Top 250 MSSP, has formed a technology partnership with Akamai, a content delivery network and internet security provider.

The partnership is intended to provide security operations teams with the data and intelligence needed to scale secure access, the companies said.

The alliance is intended to fit the work-anywhere ethos that has led to identity becoming the new network perimeter. The first phase of the arrangement is now live with the integration of Secureworks Taegis and Akamai Enterprise Application Access (EAA), a zero trust network access (ZTNA) solution, the companies said.

For mutual customers of Secureworks and Akamai, telemetry from EAA is infused with additional context from Secureworks Threat Intelligence so that customers can make informed decisions about access to applications and systems. As new alerts are being introduced, they can be correlated with data from across the infrastructure, then prioritized and responded to quickly and efficiently.

Security at the Speed of Business

Chris Bell, Secureworks vice president of Alliances, Corporate Development and Strategy, said cybersecurity must enable businesses and their teams to move “fast and freely.”

“Open ecosystems that correlate and enrich data to provide enhanced context and intelligence are the bedrock of cyber resilience," he said. "It's for this reason we're committed to building and developing the industry's most open and transparent platform. Because when security is seamless, customers thrive. We know that Akamai shares that vision and are confident that customers reap significant benefits from our partnership.”

Pavel Gurvich, Akamai senior vice president and general manager, enterprise security, said that the “relentless pace” of the global economy requires enterprises to “deploy security” that doesn’t “negatively impact” employee productivity.

“We engineer high-performing security solutions that can deliver fast and reliable employee experiences," he said. "Our partnership with Secureworks can automatically generate data that companies need to respond quickly to complex threats, coupled with rich threat intelligence to understand and mitigate risk.”

Secureworks Offers XDR Solutions

Secureworks recently introduced Taegis XDR (eXtended detection and response) and Taegis ManagedXDR for OT (operational technology), both of which are designed to help industrial organizations protect against cyber threats. Taegis XDR combines IT security telemetry with OT intelligence and uses analytics and machine learning to help organizations identify threats and prioritize the most serious ones, according to Secureworks. Taegis XDR features more than 700,000 curated threat indicators and 20,000 curated countermeasures.

MSSPs can use Taegis XDR to deliver managed detection and response (MDR) offerings, Secureworks said. Furthermore, organizations can use Taegis XDR to manage their security operations centers (SOCs).
