SolarWinds MSP Unveils Threat Monitoring Service Program

Share

SolarWinds MSP, the IT service management (ITSM) platform provider, has unveiled a Threat Monitoring Service Program at its Empower MSP customer conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Read between the lines and SolarWinds wants to help MSSPs -- in this case, threat monitoring service providers (TMSPs) -- build SOC services. Those TMSPs, in turn, can offer managed security services to smaller MSPs and end-customers. The offering is based on SolarWinds MSP's recent Trusted Metrics acquisition.

The company also announced cyber defense and intelligence services provider Falanx Group and Secuvant, a Top 100 MSSP for 2018 and 2017, as the inaugural TMSP partners.

What Is the Threat Monitoring Service Program?

The Threat Monitoring Service Program supports MSPs that have purchased the SolarWinds Threat Monitor log monitoring and threat intelligence tool, according to a prepared statement. It enables MSPs to partner with TMSPs that deliver managed security services and outsourced security operations center (SOC) services to their customers.

MSPs can leverage the Threat Monitoring Service Program to access TMSPs' security expertise and trained staff for various services, including:

  • Initial assessment and on-boarding.
  • Threat Monitor deployment.
  • Continuous monitoring and alerts.
  • Incident analysis and remediation.

The Threat Monitoring Service Program is now available.

What Is Threat Monitor?

Threat Monitor provides MSSPs with an all-in-one SOC, according to SolarWinds MSP. It offers a variety of security capabilities, including:

  • Active response to security incidents.
  • Compliance reporting.
  • Log correlation and analysis.
  • Security information and event management (SIEM).
  • Threat intelligence.

Threat Monitor helps MSSPs reduce the complexity and cost of threat detection, response and reporting, SolarWinds MSP stated. By doing so, Threat Monitor empowers MSSPs to safeguard their customers against cyberattacks.

SolarWinds MSP Upgrades Its Risk Intelligence Offering

In addition to the Threat Monitoring Service Program launch, SolarWinds MSP in May integrated an Expanded Data Breach Risk Scan (ExDBRS) into its Risk Intelligence offering.

MSPs and IT solution providers can use the ExDBRS to discover and identify security risks from vulnerabilities on endpoint devices and comply with regulatory mandates, SolarWinds MSP indicated. They also can produce an ExDBRS potential financial impact number to assess the risk for specific devices and device changes over time.

SolarWinds MSP provides ITSM solutions that combine layered security, collective intelligence and smart automation. The company supports MSPs of all sizes, and its product portfolio includes remote monitoring and management (RMM), automated threat monitoring and other offerings.
