Today’s MSSP Alert Market News:

1. MDR Solution for GenAI Debuts: eSentire, a managed detection and response (MDR) specialist, has unveiled "the MDR industry’s first solution providing complete Generative AI visibility," the company announced. Leveraging security telemetry across an organization’s log and network data sources, eSentire’s MDR for GenAI Visibility solution provides daily insights into an organization’s use of generative AI technology, including the most frequently used AI applications, the users of the technology, the prompts, and the files shared.

2. SaaS Alerts for MSPs: SaaS Alerts, a cybersecurity company delivering an automated software-as-a-service (SaaS) security platform that enables MSPs to detect and stop unauthorized activity in client SaaS applications, has extended its Respond module to provide automated remediation capabilities for Google Workspace. Respond for Google Workspace is was developed exclusively for MSPs to detect and automatically remediate SaaS security threats in Google Workspace applications, the company said.

3. MSP Partnership: Bitdefender has expanded its collaboration with Arrow Electronics to deliver a broader range of threat prevention, detection and response solutions to MSPs and their customers. Arrow will shift to a subscription-based model with Bitdefender, offering Bitdefender’s full MSP product portfolio on a pay-as-you-go basis to customers in U.K., France, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. Arrow has incorporated Bitdefender GravityZone Cloud MSP Security Solutions, a dedicated security suite designed specifically for MSPs, into ArrowSphere Cloud, the company’s cloud delivery and management platform, the companies said.

5. MSSP Status Achieved: SecureDynamics, a cybersecurity value-added distributor, has been formally authorized as a Zscaler MSSP. This latest achievement strengthens the long-time partnership between SecureDynamics and Zscaler, with offerings that include value-added distributions services for Zscaler Partners, Zscaler authorized education services and Zscaler authorized delivery services, the company said.

6. Free Ransomware Toolkit Offer: KnowBe4, a security awareness training and simulated phishing platform provider, has released a ransomware resource toolkit at no cost for organizations and IT managers as part of a dedicated, month-long campaign in July to increase awareness about ransomware attacks.

7. SOC Service Launches: SilverSky, a provider of managed extended detection and response (MxDR) services, has expanded its Fortinet portfolio with the launch of SilverSky FortiSOC services. SilverSky's FortiSOC services integrate within the Fortinet Security Operations Center as a Service (SOCaaS) model, providing a 24/7 global SOC with advanced management, monitoring and response services in flexible service offerings, the company said.

8. Bot Report Issued: Akamai Technologies, a cloud security specialist, has released a new State of the Internet report that details the security and business threats that organizations face with the proliferation of web scraping bots. Scraping Away Your Bottom Line: How Web Scrapers Impact Ecommerce finds that bots compose 42% of overall web traffic, and 65% of these bots are malicious.

9. Leadership Move: Sumo Logic, a SaaS log analytics platform provider, has appointed John Visneski as chief information security officer (CISO) and Lyndsey Filantres as senior vice president of growth. Most recently, Visneski led Amazon's subsidiary security and integration efforts following its acquisition of MGM Studios, where he served as CISO. Filantres previously served as senior vice president of marketing at Accolade, leading the demand, marketing operations communications and brand functions. Her career spans key positions at GitHub, New Relic, Avalara and SAP Concur.

10. JFrog to Acquire Qwak: JFrog, creator of the JFrog Software Supply Chain Platform that offers DevOps and DevSecOps solutions, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Qwak AI Ltd., creators of the AI and MLOps platform. With the acquisition, JFrog aims to offer a unified and scalable solution for DevOps, security, and MLOps stakeholders, the company said.

11. Malware Alert: Threat actors are exploiting a novel attack technique in the wild that leverages specially crafted management saved console (MSC) files to gain full code execution using Microsoft Management Console and evade security defenses. Elastic Security has codenamed the approach GrimResource after identifying an artifact ("sccm-updater.msc") that was uploaded to the VirusTotal malware scanning platform on June 6, 2024.
