That’s why each week, we also bring you a round-up of the important business news in the channel for service providers and other channel partners.

At this week's Canalys North America Forums, chief analyst Jay McBain made a bold prediction: That Intel would 'cease to exist' in its current form due to competition and the emergence of AI. In other news this week, Cork and OpenText are teaming up to combine the former's cyber warranty solutions with the latter's endpoint protection, CyFlare and TD SYNNEX are partnering on cybersecurity and OpenText's Geoff Bibby said the firm's Secure Cloud could help MSPs eliminate friction. Here's our roundup.

OpenText, Cork  Pair OpenText’s Endpoint Protection with Cork’s ‘Must-Have’ Cyber Warranty

OpenText has partnered with cyber warranty protection vendor Cork Inc. to bring Cork’s financial warranty protection to OpenText products and services aimed at MSPs and their SMB customers.

Under the deal, MSPs will be able to offer Cork’s cyber warranties in combination with OpenText products and services, giving its customers additional financial protections in the event of cyberattacks and related incidents, according to the companies.

Cork is a cyber warranty company for MSPs and SMBs that uses an AI-enhanced cyber risk engine to offer MSPs and their customers financial coverage and monetary payouts in the event of security incidents, according to the company. The coverage includes actionable insights, flexible premiums, and claims management to help companies protect their valuable digital assets.

“Financial protections like cyber warranties are now a must-have for organizations of all sizes due to the number of attacks they are fending off, especially SMBs, which tend to have fewer resources,” Geoff Bibby, the SVP of SMB cybersecurity marketing and strategy at OpenText told ChannelE2E. “As MSPs look to equip their customers with the best tools and services, cyber warranties have emerged as part of a larger demand for holistic protection against cyberattacks that go beyond security defenses alone. Cork's cyber warranty offers customers financial protection in the event of an attack, covering financial losses, legal expenses and recovery costs.”

CyFlare, TD SYNNEX Partner on Cybersecurity ‘to Relieve Partners’ Burden’

CyFlare’s comprehensive Security Operations Center (SOC) services will now be available through TD SYNNEX’s 7,000 global MSPs in a new partnership that aims to protect end user customers with a broad cybersecurity defense architecture that will help SMBs battle dangerous existing and evolving cyberattacks.

The deal pairs CyFlare’s SOC specialist products and services with TD SYNNEX’s large distribution network, making it easier for SMBs and other companies to find trusted partners that can work to secure the 24/7 cybersecurity services and protections that they require.

To deliver these cybersecurity services to customers, “CyFlare has tightly integrated with the TD SYNNEX ServiceSolv offerings to take as much burden off the partner and customer as possible,” Joe Morin, the CEO of CyFlare, told ChannelE2E.

“CyFlare was purpose-built for the channel,” said Morin. “Given that, TD SYNNEX has significant reach within the MSP and reseller community, serving customers of all sizes and verticals and allowing CyFlare to provide security solutions globally to more organizations in need of an affordable SOC solution while being profitable for the MSP/Reseller.”

OpenText SVP Bibby Says Secure Cloud Helps Eliminate Friction for MSPs

OpenText has rolled out what it calls a major evolution of its Secure Cloud platform this week. It’s one of several moves by the company recently to build its portfolio of offerings for its 18,000 MSP and MSSP partners, Geoff Bibby told ChannelE2E at the Canalys North America Forum.

Bibby, SVP of marketing and strategy at OpenText, said that this week’s Secure Cloud rollout has been in the works for close to five years and focuses on four major pillars to simplify life for MSPs.

“MSPs can get cyber resilience, compliance, security and Microsoft services, all from one platform,” Bibby said. “It’s designed to help MSPs grow their businesses.”

The Secure Cloud update is one of three big recent moves OpenText has made to enhance its MSP portfolio and create a comprehensive platform for service providers.

Canalys Predictions: Intel will Cease to Exist in its Current Form

Intel will cease to exist in its current form. That’s one of the most striking predictions from market analyst firm Canalys, offered today at the end of an opening session at its North America Forum.

Chief Analyst Jay McBain delivered this final dire prediction for Intel, an icon in the technology industry, at the end of a list of other channel-focused technology predictions for the future. What did McBain mean?

McBain said that Intel may cease to exist in its current form due to a splitting off of its Foundry (outsourced chip manufacturing) business. Or the change may come in the form of an acquisition following the U.S. presidential election in a few weeks.

“This is a company that has been legendary for 43 years in this industry,” McBain said. “These changes at ARM, the GPU-led AI future, mobility turning into PC technology, driving battery life, driving performance at the edge, is going to change this company in terms of the way we see it today.”
