Today’s MSSP Alert Market News:

1. SentinelOne Partners with CISA: SentinelOne, a specialist in AI-powered security, announced the enablement of government-wide cyber visibility, defense and response capability in support of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA’s) cybersecurity mission. As part of the CISA’s Persistent Access Capability (PAC) initiative, SentinelOne will use its Singularity Platform and Singularity Data Lake to provide AI-powered threat detection, investigation and response capabilities and unified data visibility, empowering CISA to defend against cyber threats and build a more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future, the company said.

2. New MDR Solution Debuts: Secureworks has launched Taegis ManagedXDR Plus, a new managed detection and response (MDR) offering that liberates the mid-market from indistinct, cookie cutter security solutions that don’t meet their unique security requirements, the company said. Taegis ManagedXDR Plus empowers companies with the tailored use cases, compliance reports and alerting they need to tackle the rising tide of cyberattacks and regulations with limited budget and people.

3. Cyber Insurance Program Offered: QBE Insurance, a global insurer operating in 27 countries, has unveiled QCyberProtect, a cyber insurance policy designed to enhance cyber resilience for a broad range of clients worldwide, the company announced. QCyberProtect provides tailored coverage for losses arising from current and emerging cyber risks, including, but not limited to, network security, privacy liability, IT and non-IT business interruptions and reputational loss. QCyberProtect also provides cyber insurance for a range of organizations, from mid-sized companies relying on fully outsourced IT departments to global corporations with complex large-scale IT systems.

4. Leadership Move: Dataminr, a provider of an AI platform for detecting events, risks and critical information from public data signals, has appointed Matthew Harrell as chief partner officer. Drawing from his extensive experience leading global channels and alliances at Cloudflare, and previously as Americas channel leader at Google Cloud, Harrell will be responsible for growing and scaling Dataminr's partner ecosystem to meet the demand for its products, the company said.

5. Malware Analysis Service Launches: Appgate, a secure access company, has unveiled its new Malware Analysis Service, which mitigates cyber threats for enterprises and government agencies by identifying and neutralizing malicious software. Appgate’s Malware Analysis and Research Team now offers two new services that allow resource-constrained security teams to submit potentially malicious files, hashes and URLs for investigation. Rapid Analysis uses automated systems to generate actionable insights in under 30 minutes. Deep Analysis extends Rapid Analysis automated reports with hands-on evaluation and reverse engineering for more obscure or emerging malware strains with detailed findings delivered typically in three days or less, the company said.

6. Identity Security Release: Rezonate, a specialist in identity-first security, has unveiled unified coverage from human to non-human identity security with comprehensive capabilities: identity inventory and visibility, security posture, compliance, and identity threat detection and response (ITDR). The platform delivers a unified approach to managing both human and non-human identities and their interdependencies ensuring end-to-end visibility with risk-driven actionability across the identity fabric of an organization, the company said.

7. Kaspersky to Cease U.S. Operations: Kaspersky Labs will gradually wind down its U.S. operations, the Russian anti-virus software maker said this week, nearly a month after the Biden administration announced plans to bar sales of the company in the country. Kaspersky, which will eliminate all U.S.-based positions, did not allow consumers to purchase any products on its website earlier on Monday, citing "purchase unavailable for U.S. customers." Last month, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced plans to bar the sale of anti-virus software made by Kaspersky in the U.S., citing security risks posed by Russia's influence on the cybersecurity company. 8. Microsoft Fixes Windows Bug: Microsoft has resolved a known issue caused by the June 2024 KB5039302 preview update, causing update problems when using Windows Update automation scripts on Windows 11 systems. This issue impacts only client platforms (Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 11 22H2) in enterprise environments. Home customers using Home or Pro editions managed via Windows Automatic Updates are unlikely to be affected. (Source: Bleeping Computer)

9. Google Play Fraud Activity Spotted: Details have emerged about an advertising fraud operation that uses hundreds of apps on the Google Play Store to perform a host of nefarious activities. The campaign has been codenamed "Konfety" (the Russian word for "candy"), owing to its abuse of a mobile advertising software development kit (SDK) associated with a Russia-based ad network called CaramelAds. The most unusual aspect of the campaign is that the evil twin masquerades as the decoy twin by spoofing the latter's app ID and advertising publisher IDs for rendering ads. Both the decoy and evil twin sets of apps operate on the same infrastructure, allowing the threat actors to exponentially scale their operations as required. (Source: The Hacker News)
