1. Dataprise Buys Phoenix IT: Dataprise, operating as both an MSSP and MSP, has acquired Phoenix IT, a cybersecurity incident response and MSP in Arizona. The acquisition broadens Dataprise's cybersecurity platform with new incident response and remediation services and expands the company's managed services regional footprint to Arizona, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

2. Censys Launches Cyber Community Forum: Censys, an internet intelligence platform and attack surface management provider, has launched the Censys Community Forum, a moderated online platform for security professionals to discuss topics focused on threat hunting, attack surface management, general security expertise and more. Designed with security professionals in mind, the space provides more than 70,000 members with free resources and data-driven security solutions through a centralized, accessible platform.

3. DataTribe Opens Startup Challenge: DataTribe, who invests in and co-builds next-generation cybersecurity and data science companies, has opened its call for applications for the 2024 Cybersecurity Startup Challenge. The deadline for submissions is September 27. The five finalists, to be announced on October 18, will share $25,000 in prize money and work with DataTribe principals and other cybersecurity entrepreneurs to hone and develop their messaging and presentations for a live event in front of a panel of judges, potential investors and customers on November 13.

4. Veracode Debuts AppSec Solution: Veracode, an application risk management specialist, has announced platform innovations to help organizations uncover, prioritize and reduce security debt across their growing attack surface. Universal Connector and Application Security Heatmap, the two newest capabilities from Longbow powered by Veracode, allow organizations to quickly connect findings from any source and see the applications that are contributing to the most risk. Together, the Universal Connector and the Application Security Heatmap provide clear, operational insight into assets and issues, allowing remediation actions to be prioritized by quantifiable risk, the company said.

5. Trend Micro Achieves Growth Milestone: Trend Micro has achieved new growth and availability milestones for its cybersecurity platform. Trend Vision One now serves more than 10,000 enterprise customers worldwide and has also been extended to help small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) better manage their cyber risk. Enhanced with new management and operational tools designed specifically for MSPs, the platform simplifies risk management for enterprises while also allowing MSPs to gain operational efficiencies, expand their services and monetize the market opportunity, Trend Micro said.

6. Trellix Receives Perfect Score: Trellix, an extended detection and response (XDR) specialist, announced its perfect score and AAA rating in the SE Labs Endpoint Protection (EPS): Enterprise 2024 Q2 Test. Trellix Endpoint Security delivers industry-leading protection without disrupting business productivity, earning 100% scores across all categories with zero false positives, the company said.

7. Huntress Gains CVE Authority: Huntress, a cybersecurity company focused on protecting and empowering SMEs, has been authorized by the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) Program as a CVE Numbering Authority (CNA). This authorization further solidifies Huntress’ commitment to continuous education in the cybersecurity community, fostering greater partnerships across government and regulatory bodies, and supporting the businesses that power daily life, the company said. The mission of the CVE Program is to identify, define and catalog publicly disclosed cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

8. Fortinet Finalizes Acquisition: Fortinet announced that it has completed its acquisition of Lacework, a cloud security and cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) provider, effective August 1. “The addition of Lacework aligns with Fortinet’s commitment to protect our customers with innovative solutions that provide consistent security across on-premises and cloud environments,” said Ken Xie, founder, chairman of the board and CEO at Fortinet. “Integrating Lacework’s organically developed cloud-native platform with the Fortinet Security Fabric will result in the most comprehensive, full-stack AI-driven cloud security platform available from a single vendor.”

9. Radix, Cognite Form Partnership: Radix, a global technology solutions company, has formed a strategic partnership with Cognite, data security specialist. The partnership aims to accelerate the use of AI to streamline and contextualize data management and asset performance across oil and gas, energy, petrochemicals, and manufacturing industries.

10. NightDragon, Comcast Propel Cyber Solutions: NightDragon, an investment and advisory firm focused on the cybersecurity, has announced a strategic partnership with Comcast Technology Solutions to help advance innovative cybersecurity technologies through increased go-to-market support and opportunities and access to expanded combined networks of industry leaders. As part of the new partnership, NightDragon will work closely with the teams from Comcast Technology Solutions, Comcast Ventures and DataBee, a security, risk and compliance data fabric platform in the Comcast Technology Solutions portfolio.
